WHAT IS MOTABILITY?

The Motability scheme allows you the choice of three pricing options:

- Cars that cost less than your allowance - meaning the remaining amount will be paid directly to you

- Cars that cost the same as your full allowance

- Cars with an Advance Payment - allowing you to add to your weekly allowance by paying a one-off upfront Advance Payment.

PEUGEOT are proud to be one of the founding members of the Motability scheme, which launched back in 1978, and since then we've continuously supported the charity and strongly believe in manufacturing cars which are accessible to everyone. We have a team of friendly, accredited experts at our Retailers who are able to discuss the best options with you, to meet your needs.

Who Can Apply For Motability?

The Motability Car Scheme gives people who receive one of the following disability benefits (with at least 12 months' award length remaining) the opportunity to have the use of a new car in an easy and affordable way.

Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HMRC DLA) - As part of its welfare reform programme, the Government has started to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with a new benefit called Personal Independence Payment (PIP), for disabled people aged between 16 and 64. The Motability Scheme will work with PIP in the same way as is it does with DLA.
Enhanced Rate Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
War Pensioners' Motability Supplement (WPMS)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

If you fall into any of these categories, or you care for someone who does, whether you are a carer, parent, or nominated driver, then you may be eligible. All you have to do is decide on your advance payment, which can be nothing at all if you prefer - depending on the model - then exchange part or all of your weekly allowance for your chosen PEUGEOT.

How Does Motability Work?

Once you've worked out what's important to you in a vehicle, the next step is to contact our Motability Experts who can discuss your preferred options with you and arrange a test drive. Startin Peugeot can discuss optional extras or adaptations that might make your driving easier or more comfortable, and arrange those for you too.

When you've decided on the model you want, our Peugeot Motability specialist will complete your order. You will then receive an acceptance letter containing your Personal Identification Number (keep this safe, as you need it to collect your vehicle). We will let you know the expected delivery date for your new car, and will keep you informed of its progress. When you come to collect your car at Startin you'll need to bring the following:

Your driving license
Certificate of entitlement from either DWP or SPVA
Proof of address (e.g recent utility bill or bank statement)
Named drivers' driving licences and consent of their details to be checked against the DLVA driver license database (if your named driver is unable to come with you to our showroom they must complete a driver consent form.

As part of the ordering process, you and your drivers will need to sign a Statement of Responsibilities. This document simply confirms that you understand and agree to abide by the Scheme rules around car usage.

All our Motability cars are offered on a three-year Peugeot Contract Hire lease agreement. This means your Peugeot Motability package also includes the following benefits:

400 + AVAILABLE ADAPTATIONS

Motability lease. PEUGEOT Motability cars currently have over 400 different adaptations available through their Motability Managed Adaptations Programme (MMAP). This means adaptations are fitted before your Motability car is delivered. Your PEUGEOT Motability Retailer will organise this with a local adaptations installer.

By ordering your car and adaptations at the same time, your adaptation installer can ensure that your adaptations work specifically for your needs, and with your chosen PEUGEOT model. Common Motability adaptations include hand controls for disabled drivers as well as easily foldable seats. Your brand new PEUGEOT will be delivered with the Motability adaptations fully fitted so that you can drive away with confidence.

ADAPTATION COSTS

Many of the most popular Motability adaptations can be fitted to your PEUGEOT at no extra cost. Any that do have an associated cost will require payment directly to your PEUGEOT Retailer at the start of your lease.

If the adaptation you need is not available through MMAP, then you will need to arrange the installation and payment directly with a Motability adaptations installer - your PEUGEOT Retailer can give you details of your local installers. You will also need to contact RSA Motability (RSAM) to check your insurance covers the adaptation.
