Why is a Winter Health Check so Important?

Date Posted: 02 December 2022

Servicing your car is part of its overall health check. It may sometimes look as if you’re paying for nothing, the truth is that all vehicles require the regular maintenance to avoid larger costly repairs. Although servicing it isn’t a legal requirement there’s a number of good reasons why you should consider getting a regular service.

WHY are Winter Health Checks Important?

→ Safety

By ensuring your car has been serviced, ensures the safety of yourself and your passengers by identifying potential problems before they become real ones.  If the case feels ok, it doesn’t always mean it is. Adding miles is also adding wear and tear which is more often than not hidden. With slight changes not even being noticeable.

Servicing will ensure that the essential checks are carried out to the critical components such as the braking and suspension of your car. Ensuring they won’t be an issue further down the line. This also provides you with that extra peace of mind knowing the vehicle is in a road-worthy condition.

→ Warranty?

If you’ve bought a new or used car that still has manufacturer warranty remaining, having it services at the correct scheduled periods will ensure that warranty remains intact. It isn’t required to have it serviced at the exact dealers you bought it from; as long as it’s by an authorised garage using approved OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts. The choice is yours!

However, there is no need to worry when having your car serviced by our very Talented Team of technicians.

→ Longer life!

Most cars and vans have a pretty rough life, for the most part, with ever changing road and weather conditions. Quite simply if you look after something it lasts. Your car is no different. Servicing your car will undoubtedly increase its life span. With records showing more people are now choosing to hold onto the same car longer, a little goes a long way, and regular services make for years of pleasant driving.

→ Save Money

The regular upkeep of your car can save you money in the long run. Due to problems being able to be found before they become a more costly issue to rectify. An example of this being engine oil, it’s needed to lubricate and protect your engine components. Without it, or running your engine dry, could result in your engine seizing up which could cost thousands to repair or replace. Replacing the oil is a key part to any service; to keep your car running smoothly.

A basic service can see increased vehicle performance. Ensuring you get the best and most fuel-efficient version of your car. (Whilst not carrying out a service does increase the chances of your car breaking down, which is rather unpleasant, inconvenient and can be costly too.)

→ Value

A car is one of the most expensive things you will ever make, with even the used car market being highly competitive. So new or used, it makes sense to protect such a financial asset. This doesn’t include simply looking after the outside and inside but also the mechanical features too.

Maintaining and ensuring a schedule for your cars service will help keep its value resulting in a potential equal sale price when selling the car on. Cars tend to gain more interest from potential buys and sell quicker given there’s evidence of a full-service history.

A regularly serviced vehicle performs better, is worth more, and keeps you safe. We highly recommend keeping your files up to date!

Finance Disclosure

Startin Group Ltd and Thomas Startin Junr Ltd are Appointed Representatives of Automotive Compliance Ltd, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA No 497010). Automotive Compliance Ltd's permissions as a Principal Firm allows Startin Group Ltd, Thomas Startin Junr Ltd to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed. All finance applications are subject to status, terms and conditions apply, UK residents only, 18’s or over. Guarantees may be required
