Check your tyres

Your tyres are one of the most important parts of your bike, especially before a longer journey. Check the tread depth, tyre pressure and overall condition before setting off.

Look for cuts, cracks, flat spots, uneven wear or anything embedded in the tyre. If you are carrying luggage or riding with a pillion, make sure your tyre pressures are set correctly for the extra load.

Inspect your brakes

Brakes should feel strong, smooth and consistent. Before a long ride, check for any unusual noises, vibration, reduced stopping power or a spongy feel at the lever or pedal.
