Kia Connect and Kia Charge App Are Being Replaced: Why UK Kia Drivers Need to Update

Date Posted: 09 October 2025

Kia has officially announced a major app transition for drivers. The Kia Connect and Kia Charge apps will no longer be supported, and all drivers are being encouraged to switch to the new Kia App to continue enjoying connected car services and charging features.

If you’re a Kia driver, this update is essential. The old apps will be greyed out on your vehicle’s screen, meaning key features like remote services, charge management, and navigation functions will no longer work unless you make the switch.

What’s Changing?

Until now, Kia owners used Kia Connect for connected car features and Kia Charge to locate and manage charging. Both apps are being phased out to make way for the new Kia App, which combines these functions into one simple platform.

This means:

  • Kia Connect and Kia Charge will no longer work.

  • App icons on your infotainment screen may still appear, but will be inactive.
  • Drivers must download and log in to the new Kia App to access all services.

  • The update will give access to improved performance, faster response times, and an easier-to-use interface.

Kia’s goal is to simplify how drivers interact with their cars by bringing all functions under a single, unified system.

How to Make the Switch

Switching to the new app is straightforward.

  1. Download the new Kia App from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Log in with your existing Kia account or create a new one if needed.
  3. Pair your car with the new app following the on-screen instructions.

  4. Remove or ignore the old Kia Connect and Kia Charge apps once the transition is complete.

After setup, you’ll be able to access all your connected car functions in one place, including remote climate control, charging schedules, vehicle location, and journey planning.

Why It Matters

Failing to update to the new Kia App means you could lose access to important features. For electric vehicle drivers in particular, the charging functionality built into the new app is key to planning routes and managing charging at home or on the go.

The change also ensures your vehicle stays in line with the latest software and security upgrades, giving you smoother performance and peace of mind.

Kia has confirmed that the previous apps will not receive any future support. Updating is the only way to ensure your services continue working seamlessly. Don’t lose access to your Kia’s connected services. Update to the new Kia App today or contact Startin Kia for help setting it up. Explore the Kia range and book your visit.

Automotive Compliance Ltd's permissions as a Principal Firm allows Startin Group Ltd, Thomas Startin Junr Ltd to act as a credit broker, not as a lender, for the introduction to a limited number of lenders and to act as an agent on behalf of the insurer for insurance distribution activities only.

We can introduce you to a selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. An introduction to a lender does not amount to independent financial advice and we act as their agent for this introduction. Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next best offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure the best deal you are eligible for from our panel of lenders. Lenders may pay a fixed commission to us for introducing you to them, calculated by reference to the vehicle model or amount you borrow. Different lenders may pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement, all of which are set by the lender concerned. If you ask us what the amount of commission is, we will tell you in good time before the Finance agreement is executed.
