Peugeot, when will all their vehicles be going electric?

28 November 2022

The UK is leading the world on the road to electric vehicles with a ban on new petrol and diesel autos from 2030 and hybrids from 2035. But when will Peugeot be adopting the change? The journey has already started but will be continuing over the coming years whilst still supporting our petrol and diesel customers.

WHAT IS PEUGEOT DOING TO GO ELECTRIC?

Peugeot is one of the foremost manufacturers in Europe who are making a dedicated move to electric vehicles. They have pledged that from 2023, every new car and van will have an electrified variant.

Full electric versions of the several models are already available and they are working on other vehicles which should be available. Hybrid versions are also available for many of our larger passenger cars.

Many of their cars can be seen and even test driven with us at Startin Peugeot.

Other steps to go electric:

  • Peugeot are introducing mild-hybrid versions of internal combustion engines to help improve fuel economy

  • They are releasing a range of electric performance cars with Peugeot Sport

  • Also, they are building battery giga factories in Europe

WHEN WILL ALL PEUGEOT VEHICLES BE ELECTRIC?

In the UK, from 2030, you’ll only be able to buy new electric and hybrid vehicles, then only electric from 2035. Older vehicles with combustible engines can still be bought after this date but only previously manufactured models, no new vehicles will be available, however, Peugeot will continue to support all petrol and diesel customers with MOTs and services, repairs and more.

There’s already a steady increase in the number of electric vehicles on the roads globally and this number is increasing each year. With a steady increase at the current levels, by 2040, it’s thought that vehicles will be completely electric.

WHY ARE PEUGEOT MOVING TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES?

The UK government is doing its part to help tackle climate change. Along with other nations around the world, the UK is aiming to be net-zero by 2050. Net-zero basically means to create a balance between greenhouse gases created and those taken out of the atmosphere.

The UK is the first major economy to set a date for a ban on new vehicles using petrol and diesel. The change to electric vehicles will significantly help reduce greenhouse gases as transport is the leading cause of C02 emissions. This will help improve the air quality in towns and cities.

Electric vehicles don’t produce CO2 unlike vehicles with a combustion engine - helping reduce gases. They can also be powered from renewable energy sources like wind turbines as opposed to fossil fuels.
