WHAT IS MOTABILITY?

The Motability Scheme is dedicated to help disabled people get mobile. It enables them to use their Government-funded mobility allowance to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair. The scheme is designed to be worry-free as there’s no hassle of extra bills or repayments, it includes insurance, plus many more benefits!

Not a driver? Don’t worry – up to two named drivers are included as part of your lease and you can add a third driver at an additional cost. These can be yourself, your friends, your family or your carers.

WHAT ARE THE FINANCE OPTIONS FOR MOTABILITY?

There are three different payment options, and you can choose the one which suits you best

NIL ADVANCE PAYMENT

Pay nothing up front – simply arrange with your local Suzuki Motability Dealer to transfer your mobility allowance to the Motability scheme. And, as the government pays your allowance directly to Motability, there’s no credit checks or assessments needed.

ADVANCE PAYMENT

For more expensive cars, your mobility allowance may not be enough to cover the cost of the three-year contract hire period. In this case, you can choose to make a one-off advance payment to cover the difference. Advance payments are paid to your Suzuki Motability Dealer and are non-refundable.

LEASE FOR LESS

If the monthly cost of the car is less than your disability living allowance or personal independence payment, you’ll receive the cashback to spend as you please. It could come in handy to cover fuel costs.

MOTABILITY CAR ADAPTATIONS

You can tailor your car to your needs by having adaptions made to your Suzuki Motability car. Your first step will be to contact us at Startin Suzuki Redditch or Worcester and speak with the Motability specialist. They’ll be able to talk you through the different adaptations that are available, which would be best suited for you and organise it for you though the partners with the Motability Scheme.

AM I ELIGIBLE FOR THE MOTABILITY SCHEME?

You can qualify to join the Motability scheme, if you or the person you’re caring for receive any of these allowances:

Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

You’ll need to have at least 12 months remaining on your allowance when you apply to join the scheme.

SIGNING UP TO MOTABILITY

Signing up is easy. Motability has designed the process to be clear and simple which allows you to have peace of mind. You’ll need to bring:

Both parts of your driving licence (to take a test drive)
Certificate of entitlement from either DWP or SPVA
Proof of address, (e.g. a recent utility bill or bank statement)
