Vauxhall Motability Scheme

Not a driver? Don’t worry – up to two named drivers are included as part of your lease and you can add a third driver at an additional cost. These can be yourself, your friends, your family or your carers.

What Is Motability?

Vauxhall has been a founding parter since the Motability scheme began in 1977, and here at Startin Vauxhall Redditch we're here to help get you started on your own Motability journey! The Motability Scheme is dedicated to help people with a wide range of disabilities to get mobile. It gives you, or the person you care for, which could be your parent or child access to a brand new Vauxhall that is perfectly suited to your exact needs. The scheme is designed to be worry-free as there’s no hassle of extra bills or repayments, and it features many benefits to make it as easy as possible to own a vehicle!

Gives You Independence

For many it means having some independence. Being able to drive yourself, or be driven, to see friends or your doctor, or go out for the day. By having a Motability vehicle, these everyday tasks are made possible.

Motability helps you to get on the road with a brand new car every three years, and with most of your running costs covered by your allowance, you only need to worry about paying for your fuel.

What’s Included?

  • Insurance and personal accident cover for up to two named drivers, and passengers
  • Insurance cover for driving abroad
  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Full breakdown assistance
  • Tyre repair and replacement
  • MOT, road tax and windscreen repair
  • 60,000 mileage allowance over three years

Let’s Hit The Road

The Motability scheme offers a wide range of adaptations from driving controls to accelerators. Many of these will be covered in your agreement here at Startin Vauxhall.

To join, you first need to see whether you are eligible. We can then help you find the right vehicle, and our friendly and experienced Vauxhall brand specialists will take it from there.

The Right Motability Adaptations For You

No matter what Vauxhall you choose on the Motability scheme, here at Startin Vauxhall Redditch we recognise that your vehicle may need to be adapted so it meets your specific needs. That way, you'll be getting the best out of your motoring experience, whether you are a driver or a passenger. As well as our Vauxhall brand specialists, we have a large number of partners who can offer expert expert guidance on how your vehicle can be converted, whilst a wide range of car adaptation options are available on the Motability scheme, many of which are at no extra cost.

Hand Controls

To help control the speed of your vehicle you can choose to install a manual push/pull device next to your steering wheel. Alternatively, there are a range of light touch electronic accelerators should you need a device that takes less effort than the push/pull controls.

Steering Aid

Combining a steering ball with your hand controls will allow you to steer your vehicle with one hand and operate the controls with the other. A remote control device will then assist with operating indicators, windscreen wipers, headlights etc. if you find these difficult to reach.

Left Foot Accelerator

These devices are ideal if you are unable to comfortably use the standard accelerator due to limited mobility in your right leg. Both options allow you to control speed with your left foot. One allows for the original accelerator to be uncovered if you share driving with your carer.

General Aids

To simply operate your indicators you can add an indicator switch to your hand controls. An easy release handbrake may also provide assistance. If you have difficulty reaching your foot pedals while driving you can bring these closer to you with extensions for comfort and control.

Car Boot Hoist

Depending on the size or weight of your wheelchair or scooter you’ll need 2 or 4-way hoist. It’s important for you to speak to one of our accredited adaptation partners to ensure you choose the correct vehicle for a hoist to function.

Electric Person Hoist

This hoist is designed to lift you safely into your vehicle. The sling stays underneath you once you’re seated ready for the end of your journey. The mount is a permanent feature. However, the frame can be removed and stowed in the boot. The hoist is operated at the touch of a button.
