How does the Motability Scheme work?

The Motability Scheme is a UK government backed initiative that allows eligible customers to lease a brand new car using their mobility allowance.

Instead of making monthly payments, your qualifying mobility allowance is paid directly to Motability. In return, you receive a comprehensive leasing package that includes:

• Fully comprehensive insurance for up to three named drivers
• Servicing and routine maintenance
• RAC breakdown cover
• Tyre and windscreen replacement
• Road tax
• Optional adaptations, many at no extra cost
• Home chargepoint installation for eligible EV customers

The lease typically runs for three years and includes a mileage allowance of up to 60,000 miles.

Considering electric on Motability?

If you choose a Kia electric vehicle and have off street parking, the Motability Scheme will arrange installation of a home chargepoint as part of your lease.

For drivers without home charging, a bp pulse subscription provides access to thousands of public charging points across the UK.

With rapid charging capability on models such as the EV3 and EV4, charging from 10 to 80 percent can take as little as 30 to 40 minutes, depending on model and specification.
